Catfished

Let’s pick up where we left off on my last post. If I were to write about how he has me in my feelers today, you would never find out how he ended up in Kansas and what got us to this point. We might as well get the somewhat boring stuff out of the way. Boring or not, this part is going to have great importance later on. So back to what I thought was my fairytale.

My nephew Gabe and I took off to Kentucky at like three in the morning. Our trip was about 10 hours one way with stopping to eat and stretch our legs. I was excited. I was finally going to see this handsome man who had stolen my heart over the last few months. The drive seemed ever so long. I didn’t even notice how beautiful it was because I was just so anxious to get there. I was about to share my life with someone for the first time in a very long time.

Finally we pull in to town. The bus station was in a pretty scary little area. I remember as we pulled up, Gabe and I both locked the doors. We then received a message from Mr. D that his bus was running a little behind schedule. Rather than park in this less than desirable area, we drove around for awhile. Mr. D’s bus finally arrived. I waited for him to come outside before getting out and opening the trunk.

As he started walking closer to me, I began to think that this guy looked nothing like his photos he had on Facebook. Then when he said hello to me, I noticed right up front, he was missing a tooth. The photos on Facebook in no way looked like the person standing in front of me. To be honest, it did not even look like the guy I video chatted with every evening. This guy was about sixty pounds heavier, had about half the amount of hair left on top, and was missing his front tooth. I guess during our video chats he always had a hat on, he held the camera at a good angle and the room was dimly lit. I was catfished. It was ok though, after all, I had fallen in love with this man. Looks didn’t mean anything when you had someone who claimed to be as amazing as he did. We loaded his one big duffle bag into the car, and off to Kansas we went.

Come back later to find out about our trip back to Kansas and our happily ever after. Well our not so happily ever after. Please share my page with your other friends and be sure to leave me a comment. I’m curious to see who else has stories similar. Have you ever been Catfished?
